Educational Scholarship Program for IAOPCC Members

Now Accepting Scholarship Applications through midnight on September 1, 2025

Known for his passion and drive for education within the pet aftercare profession, Doyle L. Shugart, was not only a pioneer and leader in pet aftercare education, but a mentor to many starting their businesses.  Credited with the development of the industry's first Certified Pet Crematory Operator Program, Doyle educated and certified hundreds of pet aftercare professionals. As a former President of the IAOPCC, Doyle was known to look for ways to serve others. In recognition of his many contributions to the pet aftercare profession, the IAOPCC Board of Directors created the Doyle L. Shugart Educational Scholarship Program.  This Scholarship is designed to recognize those pet aftercare professionals who have demonstrated and initiated the highest level of integrity, care and concern for both their businesses and community.  Those considered for an educational scholarship are individuals who in the spirit of community service have gone above and beyond to give back either through their professional aftercare services or other important pet care initiatives needed within their community.

The IAOPCC's Doyle L. Shugart Educational Scholarship Program was established to provide scholarships for pet aftercare professionals to be used toward IAOPCC Educational Courses, whether on-line, or in-person courses presented at IAOPCC Annual Conferences.

As the IAOPCC has grown, the Board of Directors has approved two $1,000 scholarships for the IAOPCC Doyle L. Shugart Educational Scholarship Program to be used toward IAOPCC Educational Courses.

Currently, both scholarships will be awarded to two select Member Applicants who meet at least one of the following criteria and have submitted and met appropriate application requirements and deadlines:

______ IAOPCC Member Affiliate (in good standing)

______ IAOPCC Regular Member (in good standing)

Applications must include the application form, along with an essay of 500 words or less describing the initiative and/or circumstances surrounding the need within the community and how you were able to make a difference through your involvement.
